This summer of 2026, The Ray of Light Wellness Shop will introduce online yoga courses.

Simply put, yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical poses, controlled breathing, and meditation. While people see yoga as a workout that enhances physical flexibility, from a mental health perspective, it is a way for us to check in with ourselves.

Yoga uses specific techniques to help us calm or energize our nervous system. Yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which lowers stress responses and cortisol levels while regulating heart rate and blood pressure. It also strengthens parts of the brain like the prefrontal cortex, which manages emotional control, helping us reduce tendencies toward impulsive reactions and behaviors.

Yoga helps us stretch and move our bodies. Why is stretching important for mental health? Stretching is important for mental health because it helps to break down stress cycles. When we are stressed our muscles naturally tighten as a protective reflex. Stretching signals to the brain that the perceived "threat" is over. This allows our minds to relax along with our bodies. Stretching also releases GABA, endorphins and serotonin—neurotransmitters that improve mood and make us feel good. Stretching even increases blood flow to the brain giving us better mental clarity, improving concentration levels and memory while creating the growth of new neural connections in our brain.

The Ray of Light Wellness Shop, a second division of our online mental health company, is launching this summer of 2026. We are thrilled to offer yoga courses accessible to individuals in the United States and other countries. If you have ever felt hesitant or self-conscious about attending in-person yoga classes, begin your journey from the comfort of your home by visiting our wellness shop's website and enjoying a course at your convenience.
